This is the book which introduced Count Dracula and established many of the rules and conventions, an aversion to sunlight and garlic for example, of vampire based literature.
The novel recounts the tale of the attempted relocation of the Count from Transylvania to London and the efforts of a small group of people to stop him.
The story is told through a set of letters, newspaper articles, diary entries recounting events that took place during this battle. The book was groundbreaking in it's portrayal of female sexuality and the consequences of modernity, which by today's standards are very different.
